Do You Ever Get The Feeling That...

... people around you are just dropping like flies?

My Granny died this morning. I didn't know her very well, though, so I can't say I'm mega upset about it. It's more upsetting thinking about how I could have made a better effort to know her... which really isn't true. I did what I could. I wrote her letters that she never would return only to hear a few months later, through some relative, that she was still working on answering some small question I had asked her. It's more upsetting thinking about the efforts she went through to have close relationships with all of my cousins and not remembering any specific effort she made to know me or my brother. It's more upsetting thinking about how much more upset I should be.

And then there is my inheritance. I've been worried sick about it for years and now it's here. You see, I'm getting something very special. I've always admired it since I was small. I told her so. That's why she gave it to me. So many years ago, when she was writing up her will, she asked me if I really wanted it and I eagerly accepted. The problem is, there is just so much of it. Her antique, ruby red glassware fills up every room of her house.

In the living room, there is a huge oak display case along one wall filled with it. Then there is a dresser along another wall with two huge, beautiful, ruby red glass lanterns on it. Two drawers hold dinner plates. In the kitchen, above the cabinets, are many various items. The breakfast table has several candle holders and a desk is filled with dessert dishes. In her huge dining room, along two walls, are built-in display cabinets. These hold every possible dinner item for every possible type of dinner, all in ruby red glassware, and enough of every item to feed a hundred people. Several other beautiful things are here and there throughout the house.

These things go very well with her large country home and her stylistic choices. They are not overbearing and are, in fact, barely noticeable. When you do notice them, you can't help but admire them. Everyone does.

The problem is that my house is less than half the size of hers. The problem is that my room is smaller than her breakfast nook. Another big problem is that all of my uncle and grandparents' things are packed up in boxes and filling every available corner and room of this house. I really can't deal with this. I may even be getting her genealogical collection, which is, in itself, not huge... but overwhelming.

It's especially upsetting thinking about things, instead of the people I've lost.

A Stolen Quiz

Have I anything better to do than steal a quiz? I think not!

the Prankster
(43% dark, 34% spontaneous, 22% vulgar)

your humor style:
CLEAN | COMPLEX | LIGHT

Your humor has an intellectual, even conceptual slant to it. You're not pretentious, but neither are you into what some would call 'low humor'. You'd laugh at a good dirty joke, but you definitely prefer something clever to something moist.

You probably like well-thought-out pranks and/or spoofs and it's highly likely you've tried one of these things yourself. In a lot of ways, yours is the most entertaining type of humor.

Let's All Go Swimming!

That would be nice right now.

What is up with that big concrete block thing in front of Glenville Pool? That is the ugliest thing ever. Who thought that one up?

Anywho... I've been working on my own games lately. Boinkers Unlimited! is being debugged and SpyGirls Mazes (never released) is getting some new music. They are both getting their interfaces overhauled and undorkified. After I get these new versions perfected, I'll upload them to all the freeware game sites.

I'm going to scrap my SpyGirls series and take all the games off my website. I get tons of traffic there, but none are interested in the games pages. I've also got some weird emails from the fans. Why are elementary school boys asking me for advice on how to get revenge on their classmates? They are asking the strangest questions about black mail and stuff. Hehe. I have no idea what to write back to them. I used to get easy questions from people, like how do I start a spy group in my school... now I'm getting specific procedural questions from elementary children. This one boy is either lying about his age, or the school system has seriously improved.

Jodacious

Dad came by this weekend and had a garage sale in our back drive.

I got to hang with Jody all day which was nice. Jody fell in love with Cinnamon and forced Dad to come back yesterday to visit her again.

Would You Like Some Cinnamon On That Toast?

Puppy talk is boring, especially to the listener, but when you have a puppy, that's all you want to talk about.

I will do my absolute hardest best to restrain myself to just the following comment. Buster has discovered that knocking over Cinnamon causes her to roll all the way accross the room. He's been doing it non-stop. We should not have shown him that.

Well, I'm almost done with the whole Thousand Year Door thing. I don't know what happened to that promise of finishing the games I have first. I saw it. I bought it. What can I say?

Speaking of great games... I suggest EVERYONE hop over to Vertigo Games and download a free copy of Ore No Ryomi 2. Make sure your start-money goes to beer and a waste disposal system. A buffet is a nice addition, too. I hear they are coming out with an Ore No Ryomi 3. I can't wait!

Taking A Breath

Everything is almost done. Life can get back to normal.

... Sure

We just picked up the last few items from my uncle's house and handed over the key to the new owner. Tommorow, we'll be having dinner with his girlfriend. (That is, the uncle's girlfriend) We've got all her stuff in the trunk of our car. She can get all that stuff, and then on Wednesday we'll be off to the title company to finish the process. That's it.

Besides our house being a wreck from all the boxes we've got over here, life will be mundane again. Joy!

So there's this rumor going around that I'll be starting college in the fall. It hasn't been absolutely confirmed, but maybe maybe. Too much crap to go through in so small a time. Can't see it happening but the rumors persist.

The little pup is ALMOST house trained. She certainly knows what going outside means but she hasn't learned to ask for it yet. I'll be starting her on leash training next week. Buster was SO jealous when we first got her, and then he got SO concerned about her when she cried in her cage at night. Now he's in love with her. He's constantly whining at me to go play with her. I have to keep them seperated when I can't watch them. They take turns being confined in my room and running around the house. She's so cute. You push her over and she just keeps on rolling all the way accross the room.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

So...

Did ya' miss me... any?

So, anyways... Phone companies are *snip* (paste) idiots! Particularly AT&T long distance. We had to call Germany because, you know, the uncle was getting sicker and his gal lives over there. Not on our plan... so a couple of hours cost six hundred bucks. Completely up-the-wall re*dic*u*loso!!!! No reduced charges with them, no paying it out over time, no nothing... so... no phone... and no more AT&T. Goodbye suckas! Hello Verizon. Be nice.

So we gots our phone turned on this morning (YAAAYYYYY!!!!!) and sign on to AOL. It says we need to pay its bill first. Understandable. Really. We had it and the phone on the same bill. So we call up trying to pay a check over the phone. They wouldn't do that... weirdos. They want our visa debit over the phone. We do. We give authorization to pay the 57 dollars we owed. They said sign on to aol and type in agree on a popup box and that would authorize the 57 dollars to be sent. We're not stupid. We read the "agreement" first. Nothing about what we discussed was on that "agreement". It basically said we were authorizing thirty bucks to be automatically withdrawn from our checking account each month. Huh? And it also said that it could think up any freaking fees they wanted and have that withdrawn too. *Bleepers* Calling them back didn't help and then they automatically withdrew one dollar from our checking without our permission. To make an already long story short... we're getting a new card number and pass code, blah blah blah, and I'm using Net Zero right now.

Oh, well. Lot's and lot's of junk has happened during this long and unfair absence from a home phone and with it, my only access to the net. Sanity was held only by a little-known, but very addictive game, called Pharaoh Cleopatra. It's a Sim City-esque escapade involving the entire history of Egypt. I've spent countless hours with this game and have led my family, Wepwawet, through 23 generations and still haven't gotten half way through the game.

I'll spare you the boring details of the many goings-ons these past couple of months but will leave you with this. A nifty little list full of mystery and intrigue.

1. a funeral
2. a wedding
3. a lovely new garden
4. a cleaning out of a cave
5. the discovory of the Whitmans
6. a selling of a cave
7. an Independence Day disaster
8. a dabilitating back injury
9. an awesome new tatoo on the Hot Sauce King

Oh... and a new family member!

Meet Cinnamon
