I've Got New Eyes
I've been waiting for them for three years. Nothing. Then I saw my opportunity and jumped at it.
I knew that my glasses weren't as effective as they used to be. When I read or was on the computer all day, they stopped working. I'd drive around the city, and when I stopped at the light, my vision would blur to the point I wasn't sure I could drive. Then the light would turn green and my eyes were instantly focused again. Or I sat around and when I wanted to see something I'd be able to, but if I wasn't paying attention, everything became a relaxing blur. My thoughts were that my eyes were just lazy. They didn't want to work out all day... like me. Haha.
Mom broke her glasses the other day. I talked her into an exam first, before just buying a new pair with her old perscription. Her appointment was today. We went up there, and I caught a glance at the sign. Buy one, get one free.
As she filled out her paperwork I said, hm, they've got that sale going on again. Buy one, get one free. She said, hm, she could get an extra frame just in case, and went back to the paper work. I said, "This could be a great opportunity," Then under my breath I finished, "to buy your daughter some new glasses."
I didn't think she heard me at first. I just kept staring at a picture featuring the back leg of a dalmatian. Suddenly she popped her head up and said, yeah, she could get some glasses for me. They squeezed me in for an appointment right after Mom. Woohoo.
So I had the exam and stuff. The doc put the machine to my eyes and told me to say yes if I could still read the bottom line of the chart. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. He was amazed. Didn't I wear glasses all the time. No, just when I read and watch tv. "Can you see me?" he asks. Yes, I can. "Clearly?" Yes. "What if you were just sitting around doing nothing? Would the room be blurry?" YES! "Dear, you are REALLY far sighted. You're going to need to wear glasses more often. You won't strain as much." Alrighty, then.
So now I've got me some glasses. A little darker frames than preferable, but still okay.
