One More for the Fire of February
I couldn't let February end with only ONE SINGLE POST!!! So now it has two o_O.
Let's see... I'm becoming quite talented at drawing flames. I start at the tip of the intended flame... and I draw a curving line downwards. Most of the time in an 'S' shape. Then I go back to the tip and I curve the line down beside it, making the flame a bit fatter in one point, then skinny, and then thick at the bottom. I make several of these flame outlines near each other in several twisty patterns giving it a fluid flamey look... even leaving a few pieces alone and above them.
Then I flood fill the flames with a deep bloody red. Next, using rust red, I trace the outlines on the inside edge of the flames, and flood fill again. This leaves that deep bloody red color two to five pixels thick depending where it is in the flame. I do the same thing using a burnt orange and leaving the rust red color four to six pixels thick. These three color lines are sharp and come to points. When I go to the the bright orange, burnt yellow, and bright yellow colors, I only let them come into the flame as gentle waves. The waves of your hair, not the sea.
On a black background, these flames look gorgeous, wild, and fiery! I've enjoyed drawing them. From learning how to seeing the final beautiful result. It has been fun. But alas, the drawing part of my project is complete. No more flames need drawing. I wonder if I'll ever be able to use this new found talent again.
Currently: Getting mother's sinus infection. Is that car on it's side or am I?
